General Position Overview:

This position is normally assigned a variety of environmental compliance activities as either the Project Lead or as a staff member of a team on several projects simultaneously.

The Environment Protection Specialist is expected to identify, analyze and resolve conventional and complicated problems and/or situations associated with environmental compliance, enhancement, and/or mitigation.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

The Environment Protection Specialist:


Serves as Environmental Protection Specialist to help plan and implement actions to attain necessary environmental clearances for routine and/or more complex customer and/or client proposals. Actions may include determining scope of proposal through contacting proponents, assisting in coordinating within the Company, and contacting other agencies.

Supports:


Timely preparation as well as the adequacy, accuracy and consistency of environmental reports and related decision documents, such as Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements.

Preparation, processing and review of environmental assessments and environmental impact statements.

Consistency with various laws, regulations and guidelines related to the protection of natural and social resources (e.g. National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act; National Historic Preservation Act, and so forth).





Conducts or arranges for field inventory services and impact analysis in support of Environmental Project Managers for small projects, as well as large projects such as high-voltage transmission line construction projects longer than 20 miles in length.

Identifies and documents natural and social resource issues; analyzes impacts and makes recommendations for mitigation in specific areas of technical expertise.

Independently identifies needed tasks and works with the Company in order to recommend the resources necessary to successfully complete assigned projects. This often requires deviation from traditional methods and development of new methodology.

Participates, as required, in public involvement meetings for assigned projects.

Assists/leads/facilitates in-house and/or contractor teams to support projects.

Carries out assigned tasks with a professional demeanor reflected in excellent written and oral communication skills, listening skills, patience, analytical reasoning and problem-solving abilities

Job Description:
·         The Lead Research Associate will be involved in all aspects of research, development and qualification for manufacturing as it pertains to the sensor development area. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers and technicians to develop the current and future electrochemical biosensors.  The primary responsibilities of this position include:

Daily management of technicians in sensor fabrication area,
Execution of experimental protocols for the optimization, characterization and scale-up of processes relevant to sensor development,
Maintenance of equipment within sensor development area,
Participation in protocol review, data analysis, protocol report preparation, upholding quality and safety standards,
Maintain current documentation in sensor development area

 
Required Skills/Experience:
·         5 years of industry experience (10 years is desirable)
·         Have supervisory experience
·         Recent hands on lab experience.  
·         Prior experience with biosensor development and/or polymer chemistry and/or electrochemical devices is ideal.
·           Demonstrated knowledge of advanced analytical instrumentation such as UV Spectroscopy, FTIR, cyclic voltammetry, potentiostatic test equipment, viscosity measurement, and imaging microscopy is a plus.
·         A working knowledge of basic laboratory equipment and analytical tools such as precision balances, microliter pipettes and basic laboratory practices such as GLP/GMP and chemical handling,
·         A working knowledge of basic laboratory practices
·         Performance of tasks includes manipulation of small, delicate parts often in a controlled environment glove box, requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
·         Applicant must be proficient with computer applications including excel and experience with common statistical software packages such as Minitab. 
·         Manufacturing experience preferred but not mandatory.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Research Associate   This candidate will be a part of an immunoassay development team.  The team will be responsible for performing the Antibody screening, Antibody labeling, Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) development and sample bioanalysis in support of early phase preclinical projects.
